Samuele Covolo

Hey everybody! I’m Sam (short for Samuele) and I’m a curious Italian student of Industrial Engineering and Management at Avans Hogeschool in Breda.

what track did you choose and why?

I chose the Personal Purpose Track at Pulsed because I realised that by choosing that track, I would take such a big opportunity to explore and develop my passions related to the engineering degree that I’m following, without worrying about going too far from it. I already had experience in the entrepreneurship subject and I didn’t feel like working for a company was what I was aiming for, so I chose the personal track and I surely didn’t regret it.

can you explain what a track ambassador is? and why were you chosen?

Track ambassadors is a group of students that represent the track they chose, to show to future students how it feels and to help them decide which track would suit them best. I think I was chosen because I’m an enthusiastic international student, I even came from a different school and city to be at Fontys, and I’ve already had experience being the student ambassador in my Major education in Breda.

on what kind of project have you worked on in the minor?

I had some interviews regarding some projects at pulsed, discovering an “investigator side” from myself that I didn’t know existed. What I also really enjoyed was drawing the “line of happiness” during the track day, because it made me reflect on my past experiences, how they influenced me and at what point I am in my life now. Another thing was the lecture I gave about a passion of mine to other students and teachers about the subject of psychedelics and its possible us in treatments. About this subject subject I also participated in a podcast as the first ever guest to share my experiences and knowledge.

did you ever fail or felt like failing during this project?

The thing that gave me reasons to think a lot is the frustration. That frustration for me is a failure because I had much expectation from group members and once I realised some people were caring more than others I got angry. In the real world, there will always be people that care less about things than you do, so it was a valuable piece of life- lessons. My approach was to talk with as many people as possible, and understand what was their objective in the group while talking with other people that felt the same way helped me to get over it.

can you summarise your proces with a meme?

what did you enjoy the most during your track?

Getting acquainted with the environment at Pulsed. I’ve never had the chance of spending my days in such a creative place, where everything I wanted to create was possible.
